JAFRA Color’s new formulas have been designed to offer consumers perceivable benefits through nature’s best ingredients in combination with JAFRA’s competencies in skin care. For instance, infused with botanicals and Vitamins C and E, the Full Coverage Lipstick combines brilliant color, a velvety finish, and long-wear for 8 hours. The new Lash Maximizing Mascara dramatically volumizes, lengthens and curls with a patented cotton extract, Vitamins B5 and E.
Other products include 7 new triple-milled eyeshadow trios, 3 new blush shades, and 10 new nail lacquer shades. The Automatic Eyeliner, Brow Pencil and Eye Pencil have been newly reformulated to ensure ease of application and wear. Highlighting darker skin tones, the color line features a new Cream Concealer in Deep and Always Color Stay-On Makeup SPF 10 in 3 new shades for darker complexions.

“The jewel of the darker skin tone assortment is the new makeup artist inspired Dark Imperfection Corrector, which is a moisturizing concealer that corrects discoloration and hyper-pigmentation,” said Leah Cadavona, director of marketing for JAFRA USA. “This particular product helps address needs of women with darker skin tones, which is a much needed addition given today’s ever increasing multicultural society,” Cadavona said.

For over 50 years, JAFRA Cosmetics has been transforming lives with innovative and quality skin care products and exceptional career opportunities. Tang shares that “In the United States, Asians have a long tradition of entrepreneurship. We have seen the significant impact of Asian-American entrepreneurs in the economies of local communities and the country at large. At JAFRA, we also want to help provide additional opportunities for the Asian consumer to earn more income and/or explore a new career path as home-based business owners through our direct selling and consulting program.”

JAFRA successfully created its most contemporary color line in collaboration with HIRST PACIFIC LTD, a branding and design consultancy based in New York, New York. Reflecting a balance between science and nature, the new color line has a look that is fresh and timeless. Each custom-made package has a curvilinear yet symmetrical design that mimics nature. The color palates of silver and white, both found in science and nature, were chosen to create an association with JAFRA’s advanced technologies.

“New Yorker in Tondo”- A Play that Transcends Who We Are

The Cast of "New Yorker in Tondo"

By Fel Anthony Amistad,

The Palanca-award winning play, “New Yorker in Tondo,” written by Marecelino Agana, Jr. was recently staged at the Serramonte Del Rey School Theatre in Daly City under the direction of Jackie Castillejo-Guingona. It is a comedy for everyone because it delivers more value and meaning by transcending the belief that one can take oneself out of the Philippines, but the Philippines cannot be taken out of oneself. One of the more popular Filipino comedy plays, this fantastic version is about Kikay who ia a balikbayan or a newly arrived from New York. Forgetting her roots, Kikay played by Richgail Enriquez appears to forget her true love of Tondo and her previous self when she displayed the acquired style, manner, and culture of New York. Kikay’s values have changed as her mom and friends have noticed her distinct persona. This protagonist tries to get back to being Kikay of Tondo that all her family and friends knew. This comedy play slightly differed from previous versions in that a few popular songs were introduced adding multi-dimensional appeal.

The actors were great in their portrayal of the main characters. Jackie Castillejo-Guingona played Nena, the childhood friend of Kikay who showed her irritation and resentment of the New Yorkish Kikay by imitating her ways in comedic relief. Aling Atang, the mother of Kikay, was portrayed by Cris Gosalvez who carried out her disdain of her daughter’s New Yorkish transformation and tried to convey her feelings and conversations in funny broken English, or Taglish.

Tony, Kikay’s childhood sweetheart, portrayed by Lee Robin Salazar is charming and had a central dramatic pull in the play. Tony visited Kikay to catch up on old stories and the past. However, the plot becomes interesting when his secret engagement to Nena, Kikay’s childhood friend, creates the tense comedic and dramatic scenes that highlight the play. Both English and Tagalog were used perfectly throughout the play to emphasize the dialogue and acting. Another amazing and funny character, Totoy, played by Joji Isla, also known as the Tondo “canto boy, ” is the secret love of Nena. Totoy’s love was revealed when the two female lead roles had a clash. His comedic acting was impressive as the delivery and acting were punctuated by unforgettable grimaces and looks. The audience reacted to every scene with glee and joy.

At the end of this play, the secret love of the characters was revealed with Kikay back to her old self, a simple and kind person who displayed the Alice-like transformation (Wizard of Oz) and love of Tondo culture and values. This is a play that should be seen by everyone, born and raised here in America or in the Philippines. Its acting and fantastic sets were well designed and the script and direction under Jackie Castillejo-Guingona was well executed. With the central meaning of this play, no one will forget what it means to come home again and relive great memories and reconnect with family and friends. This New Yorker in Tondo play should not be missed. It is produced by L3 Dream Productions. Tickets are available by contacting jaxsee@yahoo.com

WHO CAN STOP Ai-Ai?
(Walnut Creek’s Artist Magic Entertainment’s maiden presentation promises non-stop laughter)

Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai de las Alas is "UNSTOPPABLE" in Reno.

TO-BE-SEEN IN THE CITY
After a long absence in the US, Ai-ai De Las Alas (together with the Concert Queen of the Philippines, Pops Fernandez) will be seen LIVE on July 3rd at the Grand Theater of the Grand Sierra Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada. Aptly entitled "UNSTOPPABLE", her newest show promises non-stop laughter and pure family entertainment.

Ai-ai de las Alas has done it all. She has shaped the industry with her uncanny ability to make people laugh and different style of comedy. She has delivered when it counts. Often imitated but never duplicated – that’s how followers describe her simply. Ai-Ai, the Comedy Queen of the Philippines has all but nothing to prove. The most recent Best Actress winner in the 37th MMFF has been the subject of limelight in all aspects of the industry. Still, she remains complacent and unmoved by any of these.

ABS-CBN movie stars Angel Locsin, middle, & Jake Cuenca, right with director Cathy Garcia-Molina, left at the San Francisco premiere of their latest film, "In The Name of Love" at the Fox Theater in Redwood City last Sunday night. Did you know that Box-office Director Cathy is supposed to helm the late AJ Perez in the Mara Clara stars' launching movie with Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes & Albie Casino?

SEEN IN THE CITY
Worthy is the Lamb
Crossroads Christian Center (CCC) in Daly City presented a very anointed passion play, "Worthy is the Lamb" last Resurrection Sunday. This is the second annual tradition of love at CCC. Many people were blessed to see the heart-stirring play written and directed by Kristoffer Earl Dizon. The role of Jesus was portrayed by Armando Vanegas.

Milpitas Mayor Joe Estevez, middle, graced the Santacruzan at the 1st year anniversary of Seasons Marketplace at Landess, shown here with Hair & Make Up Artists, Christine Paul, left & Arlene Coleman, right.

The production was a diligent collaboration of different ministries in the church. The play showed various scenes in the life of Jesus - His ministry, compassion for children and all kinds of people, awesome miracles, sufferings on the Cross, resurrection and His triumphant return. There were moments of great awe especially during the passion scenes of Jesus' suffering and crucifixion as the audience could see and feel the lash of the whip and the sound of the nails being hammered to our Savior's hands and feet. It brought tears in the eyes of many as people came to realize how much pain Jesus had to bear because of His great love for all of us.

TFC's Barangay USA's Angelo Barga entertains a sizable crowd with Immigration Lawyer Lou Tancinco during last Saturday's 1st year anniversary of Seasons Marketplace Landess in Milpitas.

The play showed the glorious resurrection of our Lord who appeared to Mary and the disciples who were overwhelmed with joy. It culminated in the triumphant return of Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of lords. With the background song, "Worthy is the Lamb," it was so touching to end the play in a scene in heaven when the angels andevery creature will one day crown the Lamb upon the throne with many crowns. What a blessed hope for all those who have put their trust in Jesus as their Lordand personal Savior! We will all fall down and worship Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Justin Bieber in Saratoga
I wasn’t even aware a bit until Girlee Mendiola of San Jose sent me a Facebook message looking for Justin Bieber (yes, that bratty Canadian teener who tries to sing and who was recently in the news for manhandling autograph-seekers all over Asia, including the Philippines) ‘College Track Benefit 2011’ concert tickets happening at the Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA on Saturday, 08:30 PM, Jun 11, 2011. I tried looking online and available tickets are priced at $1,500.00 a piece. Whoa!
