Pacquiao is ‘Fighter of the Year’ again
(recently picked by both prestigious Ring Magazine and USA Today)
SEEN IN THE CITY
When it rains, it pours. Late last month, USA Today picked Pacquiao as "Fighter of the Year". In his article, Bob Velin of USA Today said "Pacquiao was elected to congress in his native Philippines in May, and amid endless distractions, the world's top pound-for-pound fighter fought twice at Cowboys Stadium before close to 100,000 fans. He nearly shutout two of the toughest fighters around in Joshua Clottey and Margarito, giving up five inches and 17 pounds to Margarito.”

"For excelling while serving his people on two continents, Pacquiao is USA Today's fighter of the year,” Velin further wrote.
Boxing's Bible, the Ring Magazine followed next and also gave the "Fighter of the Year Award" to Manny Pacquiao for his previously mentioned double victories during the year, among his other accomplishments.

"We’re in the era of Manny Pacquiao, though. The world’s greatest fighter is so popular—particularly among his passionate countrymen—that we knew with certainty that he would be the runaway winner of the award. Facts be damned," according to the Ring Magazine.
As I recall personally hearing a sportswriter during one of his fights in Dallas, “this guy - Pacquiao is worth every penny”.

Pacquiao’s next fight will be on May 7th (he moved the date a month later than original schedule to give priority to his legislative duties in the Philippines) in Las Vegas against an aging (by sportswriters standards) "Sugar" Shane Mosley.

TO-BE-SEEN IN THE CITY
Bruno Mars to perform in Manila
After the Mark Salling (aka Puck of ‘Glee’) invasion of Boracay last Christmas, barring unforeseen circumstances, Film-Am singer Bruno Mars will be performing in a major concert in the Philippines on April, 2011 at Mall of Asia (MOA) Concert Grounds. Mars popularized the songs "Nothin' On You," "Billionaire," and "Just the Way You Are" – songs that were covered in ‘GLEE’ – yes, that number 1 musical TV series today on FOX Tuesday nights.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Someday, I shall be President.” by Abraham Lincoln. I haven’t read it yet, but apparently Manny Pacquiao hinted on the same highest political position on the last chapter(s) of his new 240-page book - “Pacman: My Story of Hope, Resilience, and Never-Say-Never Determination,” published by David Dunham and released last November 19 on Amazon.com.
The highly inspirational book is available in 10 languages (including Tagalog) and chronicles “Pacman’s life struggles, from his days as a teenager until he reached the top of boxing world. It shows a different side of Manny Pacquiao that had never been seen, never been heard, and never been told.”
